Customized Tours with Knowledgable, Local Guides
If you’ve traveled, either on your own or on a cruise, you’ve probably experienced “The Tour.” You sign up on a website somewhere, try to do some due diligence to see if it’s worth the money, and then cross your fingers and hope for the best.
It doesn’t always work out.
I recently went on a bicycle tour of Hamburg that was touted as “Historical Hamburg.” Being a history buff, I was looking forward to hearing about Hamburg’s origins, their role in the wars, and what makes the city “tick.”
But it was not to be.
Instead, we cycled around to several famous Instagram spots so people could get that all-important selfie. At one point, I seriously thought about just biking off into the sunset to view things on my own.

A pretty spot, to be sure, but not exactly what I’d hoped for out of this tour.
Create Customized Tours with GoWithGuide
All tours with GoWithGuide are private, and led by passionate, vetted, knowlegable guides. That means it’s just you and your group paired with someone who knows the location and wants to share it with you. No annoying couple in matching safari outfits dominating the discussion. No rote recitation from hastily scribbled 3X5 cards. No bored teens being dragged along with mom and dad (unless they’re yours). It’s all about you and your interests.
If that castle in Bavaria turns out to be far more fascinating than you’d thought – spend extra time. Or perhaps the mummy museum in Egypt needs to be left in the dust – cut it short. It’s your time, and the guide is there to help you explore those things that pique your interest.
On the other hand, with GoWithGuide, you can be sure that your guide will be knowlegable and passionate about their subject.
Take Bavaria guide, Scott:
No one is more passionate about Bavaria. My love of the Bavarian culture and history has made me an authority on all things Bavarian! I like to relate Munich’s rich history through stories and anecdotes.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in German Language & History, am a Diplom Bier Sommelier and am a silent partner of a Michigan microbrewery, specializing in Bavarian beer & food.
Having lived in the Bavarian Capital of Munich for over 12 years, I am highly integrated into the culture and enjoy being a part of many Bavarian Stammtisch groups – inluding being the only non-native member of the Aventinus Buam. With this insight, I will help you unlock that magic that is Bavaria!
Scott has outlined several typical tours of Munich – with the Marienplatz, Frauenkirche and Viktualienmarkt – all worth seeing and full of interesting history, to be sure. But with a private, customizable tour, feel free to talk to your guide beforehand and swap out the Asamkirche for more time at the Hofbräuhaus & Odeonsplatz. It’s all up to you.

GoWithGuide offers Real-Person Support, 24/7 For Questions about Your Customized Tour
Guides with GoWithGuides have personal videos, introducing themselves and giving you a glimpse of their style. On each guide’s page, there’s a message button for you to communicate directly with the guide, as well as contact availability with the company.
What’s really great is that you can communicate with the guide even before you’ve booked a tour (unlike some of the other online tour services.)
Are Private, Customized Tours Affordable?
To be sure, a private tour is going to cost more than the typical online tour. But then, you aren’t sharing a guide with 25 other people, all of whom have their own interests and agenda (which may not match yours at all.)
Here’s the thing: Travel is about experiences – and how much is an unforgettable experience worth?
When you see that famous location in a Hollywood blockbuster and you elbow your wife “Hey, remember that?” Or a friend talks about their dream of seeing the Eiffel Tower and you relive the thrill of the view as you describe it. This is what a personal, customized tour provides, and it’s priceless.
